Updated nursery and a feature

First off, thank you all so much for the comments and emails about my last post. You guys are so sweet and made me feel so supported and loved! His new job is going really, really well and things at home are great. It was a little strange the first week getting used to his new hours but now I feel like everyone is on the same schedule.....and it's SO nice! He used to work from about five or six am until three or four pm, depending on what was going on that day. Now he's a eight to fiver, which means I can get up early, workout and then cook breakfast for all of us before he leaves in the morning. Hooray for family meals! :)

Anyway, this morning I was checking my news feed on Facebook and saw that I was featured over at Young House Love today. Total surprise and shock! I had actually forgotten about sending the email. Speaking of ever-evolving, we rearranged Isaac's nursery while the hubby was off a few weeks ago. We were in the process of painting our master bedroom (I promise I'll have pics soon, I'm still working on reupholstering the headboard) and didn't want our little chunker breathing in paint fumes so he slept in his own room. Gasp! I know!! The best part? He slept great, it actually worked.

Once we figured that out and decided to keep him there we had some work to do.
Isaac just started crawling and can sit up great on his own but because he's so big  he ends up rolling over in his sleep and whacking his head into the crib sides all the time. The crib we have has closed ends on the sides. They're solid and not rails, which is a pretty popular style these days. The problem with that is that you can't use traditional crib bumpers because you don't have any rails to tie them too. On top of that, bumpers aren't very safe and almost no one makes cute ones them anymore. However, since he is completely able to get himself around and can crawl and sit up on his own I'm not worried about it.

I bought these bumpers from WalMart for $20. They come in four pieces, two long ones for the front and back and two short for the ends. I just recovered the long pieces and added new ties. The added bonus is that his binky's don't fall through the rails now. If you have a crib like ours with the solid sides and need a bumper alternative you should try this one, super easy and very cheap!

Ok, onto the pictures.

I would eventually like to add one or two of these acrylic shelves under the window and a mobile, but it'll do for now. :)

Nursery reveal

I finally got around to taking some pictures of Isaac's nursery today, although they are not great quality. His room is pretty small making it hard to photograph, plus I don't have a great camera!

So without further adieu...............

And here is the little man himself enjoying his "big" crib (he's still in a bassinet in our room).

I think he approves.

While at a garage sale last week I came across a vintage constellation wheel game for $2. It came with six different colored star wheels, two of which were the classic navy. The others are black, white and turquiose.

Here are the navy ones in Isaac's nursery. I just popped them into some frames that I had lying around.

Something witty........

Sorry for the silence around here.

Over the last two weeks we've passed around, sinus infections, fevers and the stomach flu at our house.

(Throwing up at 8 months pregnant is a hell I wouldn't wish on my worst enemies!)

We've been through countless loads of laundry, bottles of Pepto and had to throw out the area rug in the boys room after a particularly disgusting diaper change. 

Thankfully we had another one to take it's place.

In between illnesses I was able to finally get the print from my Aunt hung over Isaac's crib. I used this tutorial (from Jenny the DIY Queen) because I still want to have a mobile of some sort and didn't want it to compete too much with a bulky frame.

Sorry for the glare and reflections in these photos, it was very difficult to photograph!

As for the mobile I have two ideas.

My sweet friend Jessica's oldest daughter loves origami and offered to make me a bunch of cranes. I still can't decide what color paper I would pick, most likely white....we'll see.

In other news, I was at my parents house last week, alone and with some time on my hands so I turned on HGTV and caught an episode of Selling L.A.

Am I the only one who could watch real estate shows every night F-O-R-E-V-E-R??

And yes that was a Sandlot reference.

House Hunters is hit or miss most of the time and like Naomi I totally make fun of the homeowners!

But Selling New York and Selling L.A. are great......so great that I am looking forward to having this baby just so I can watch cable at the hospital.

And of course see my little man....don't hate on me just yet people!

Anyway, that's the latest around here.

Bits and pieces

So I went in for my Dr. appointment last week and baby's heart rate was really high. My Dr. had me schedule an ultrasound just to be sure that everything was okay. We found out that my amniotic fluid was low but that baby is fine. Thank you Lord!

On top of (still) taking it easy they have me doing hydrotherapy at home. Sound weird?

Yeah it is, it consists of me taking two baths a day, drinking 60+ oz of water a day and cutting out caffeine, chocolate and fruit juice from my diet. I know most of you are thinking that chocolate would be awful to have to cut out but thankfully I'm not a big fan of it. I am a big fan of fruit juice though, especially orange juice. It's pretty much what I crave 24/7 and have for all of my pregnancies.

I have another ultrasound on Thursday to recheck the fluid levels, I'm hoping that they have gone up. If they get too low I would have to be hospitalized until I delivered.......like 5-7 weeks. Yikes!

When we got home from my ultrasound this week we found a puddle in our utility closet.  Goodbye old, busted hot water heater; hello shiny new one and lots of ramen noodles!

On to the good news, I have some nursery pics to share!

I recently found this seller on ebay who has awesome vintage sarees perfect for making pillows out of. Very inexpensive and TONS of patterns and colors to choose from.

Pretty huh!?


We're planning on tackling our basement family room soon. We have SO many books, toys and other general kid stuff it's becoming a problem. We really want to get two storage cabinets, like this one below, to hide it all.

The computer would be moved out of the bedroom and into the family room and we'd use the bedroom for my sewing table, our treadmill and elliptical and the boys train table. Right now we have three different bookcases holding all of the toys, movies and books and they're still everywhere. I'm dying to get this all organized!!

I figure further on down the line I can always jazz up the storage cabinets with some O'verlays.

Lately.........

 I've been attached to my sewing machine.

I've made about 2,849 pillows........

 a crib sheet (out of this Alexander Henry fabric)..........

 and a slipcover for our ottoman.

(I'm waiting for some sunshine to take some decent photos of the rest of the living room.)

I still need to make two duvet covers for Jude and Phin's beds and then the sewing machine can get put away.

This late in the game (31 weeks) pretty much anything and everything is knock down, drag out exhausting for me. However, it's a mad dash to get everything done before I go into labor and with my history that could be sooner rather than later. I can't believe how quickly this pregnancy has gone by and that we'll be holding sweet baby boy # 3 in as little as six weeks!! Speaking of that sweet baby, his nursery is almost finished. I'm just waiting on one last piece of art.
