EBTH

Do you know about EBTH, Everything But The House?

Part ebay, part 1st dibs.

EBTH is a revolutionary online personal property and estate sale service provider. But that just scratches the surface…
Our History:

EBTH was born out of a passion for antiques, a desire to change the way that they’re discovered, and a commitment to providing sellers with a better alternative for selling their property. In 2008, Jacquie Denny and Brian Graves posted the first estate sale of its kind to EBTH.com. As word of the new and unique service began to circulate, the phones started ringing…and they haven’t stopped since. Today, we perform an average of 20 – 25 sales per month and our business continues to grow. We pride ourselves on our world-class service, a hard-earned and well-respected reputation, and a track record of success in profitably selling everything but the house. Others have tried to mimic our concept, but none have the experience or expertise of our team at Everything But The House. We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished and we’re eager to share our story with buyers and sellers across the world!

Here’s how it works:
  1. People come to us to help them sell a house full of items that have accumulated over a lifetime.
  2. Our expert staff works with the seller to evaluate their items, catalog, and photograph them. All items are uploaded to our website for sale.
  3. All sales last seven (7) days and each and every item starts at $1. We also offer an in-person Sale Preview that gives interested buyers the opportunity to see every item in person.
  4. When the sale ends and all bids are final, we collect payment and facilitate pickup.
  5. For the buyer, it all ends with the purchase of something that they love. For the seller, it ends with a detailed inventory of what was sold and a quick payment.

Here are some of the items they have for sale right now with their current high bid:

Rugs, Suzani's and Ikat oh my!

Hi!
Hope you are having a good week so far, this one feels like it's going by fast-thankfully.
The hubs is now working a second job three nights (in a row) a week so my weeks are really crazy!

I just wanted to take a second and let you know of a great resource for rug's, suzani's and ikat pillows and fabric.

All of these stunners are from the ebay shop, uzdecor-com
They have pairs of Ikat pillows (starting at $19.99), beautiful rugs ($299 and under), Ikat fabric ($35.99) and some great suzani's and suzani pillows.
The best part is that most of these items are shipped for free, so you can have it both ways: beautiful and affordable!

Red.

I have never really been a fan of it!

Lipstick yes, home decor not so much. With the exception of vintage textiles of course, those always look good in red!

Until recently I haven't had any red in my home.....and hardly any in my closet for that matter. Lately I haven't been able to get it out of my head though, I've been drawn to anything and everything red.

For me red in a home can get really tacky REALLY fast. I mean how many single red "accent walls" have we all seen!? (If you have one and love it, then more power to you it's just not my cup of tea.)

While I haven't been the hugest fan, there are plenty of homes where red is very well done.

                                                    (all images via Pinterest)

I like red in other peoples homes when it is done well but it's always been a hard color to get right in my own home.

Last week I ordered this rug from esalerugs.com (who by the way is having an end of season sale that ends tonight. Up to 50% off, free rug pad and an additional 10% when you buy 2 or more rugs....GO NOW!!!!). Let me just tell you it is beautiful and the quality is outstanding! The best part? We were on a very tight budget and a 7x10 was only $150.
SCORE!
It will be going in our master bedroom with some dark emerald green walls (Behr's Billiard Table)...so pretty!

Last fall I spray painted this light fixture for the boys' room. Red is pretty effortless and a big go-to color in a boys room but it can also seem a little too juvenile sometimes. This fixture is timeless in red and will work just as well in the room when they are older.

Here are some other red things I've been loving lately

So tell me,do you use red often in your home??

Paint woes

For the past couple months I've been thinking of painting....again. The living room has been painted twice already since we moved in a year and a half ago.

Here is the color now, furniture is all different of course.

It's a very pale blue/gray.

Which was beautiful when I first painted it (we hadn't ripped out the carpet yet). I had always planned on buying a jute/sisal rug after we took out the carpets, hence the cooler wall color. However when rug plan A changed we ended up getting this beautiful silvery/mint area rug. I love it, it's the perfect color.
However, with the 'cool' paint color and rug it's too cold, the wall color needs to be warmer.

I'm thinking it needs to be a warm white, just not too yellow.

Here is where you come in-my computer monitor is on the fritz and looks like a static-y TV (Migraine city y'all!) so I can't tell what anything looks like.

I'm thinking something  like this:

(I'm going with a warm white because of my plans for our kitchen, which I'll be sharing soon. Whatever wall color I pick will most likely be on the upper cabinets/open shelves.)

Here is (similar to) what I have going on in the living room right now:

I just need help picking a paint color. Pretty sure it'll have to be Behr paint at this point, oh Farrow and Ball I need you in Montana!

I'm thinking Cottage White (on the china cabinet)

Too yellow? Let me know what you think because on my computer monitor I can't tell.

I REALLY need to get it fixed!

Inspired

While perusing the latest Country Living magazine at my parents house recently I fell in love.

With this room.

This room solidified my plan to paint our master bedroom high gloss navy.

That is all, carry on with your Tuesday!

A great looking cheap rug that even Valorie Hart likes! *Updated

(Just kidding, did you see that episode though? So funny!)

In the May/June issue of Rue there is an article on Valorie Hart's home.

What caught my eye right away was the area rug(s) in her bedroom.

It's from WalMart if you can believe it!!!  (I blogged about it here

It's an indoor/outdoor rug and a 5x8 will only put you back $50!

How great do two of them look layered in Valorie's bedroom?!!

Just goes to show you that you can find great design ANYWHERE!!

*Update- I went through the archives on Valorie's blog and found a post that lists more sources for her bedroom, check it out here.

The Look for less: ABC carpet and home Color Reform Rugs

Raise your hand if you've drooled over these rugs???

I know I have, they are absolutely beautiful!

They take old worn out carpets, neutralize the color and dye them with an over-saturated color. The carpets they use were unusable vintage rugs –  unusable because the color had worn out in spots, not because the carpets themselves were worn. The newly dyed versions can be used on a wall or a floor.

ABC carpet and home Color Reform rugs start price of $799 (their website is down right now but that price was taken from here.)

While I really appreciate the skill that goes into "recycling" these rugs, I found an AWESOME substitute for those of us who can't spend a years salary on one rug. Yay!!

Home Decorators Euphoria Area Rug in blue, also comes in red and gray!

9'10"x12'10"  $599 (with free shipping right now!)

By the way my little slice of blogtopia celebrated it's one year birthday last week! Can't believe I've been blogging for a year now!!

Update: Reichel at Copy Cat Chic featured this post today along with an updated ABC rug in a similar size/color. Thanks Reichel!
