I'm so excited! My little brother is getting married this weekend!!

All the wedding preparations got me thinking about our wedding. When The Man and I got married we were very young, by today's standards at least, I had just turned 19 and he had just turned 20. We had a very, VERY small budget. The dress, flowers, invitations, decorations, favors, etc. all came in UNDER $800! (I wish I had some photos to share on here but they are all packed.)

We ordered the flowers through a grocery store and made the bouquets ourselves. I got my dress on sale for about $400 at a local shop. We had an evening wedding in November so it was dark outside when the ceremony started. We decorated with white tulle, white Christmas lights and tons of dollar store white candles. It was cheap but very beautiful! We made the invitations ourselves, my poor Mother put up with my complaining the whole time, they took forever! We had a dessert reception following the ceremony with all of the desserts provided by the women at our church. Our honeymoon was spent here in MT at a nearby hot springs.
Although I would probably change everything about it now (personal style can change a lot in 7 years!) it was a small, beautiful wedding, spent with the people we love the most.

When thinking about our wedding I sometimes wish we had the BIG affair like in the movies. With caterers, a band, professional pictures, etc. However, it's just a WEDDING, it's one day. A drop in the bucket of 'till death do us part'. Now, I have nothing against big or expensive weddings, for those of you who had or will have them more power to you! Celebrating a marriage is such a joy, no matter how it's done!
But marriage is a whole other story! It's not easy, in fact it's very hard. But God's grace is sufficient!! I thank Him everyday for bringing me my husband!!
So here's to my little brother and future sister-in-law (as I raise my non-existent glass : ) , may the Lord bless you and keep you, may He make his face shine on you and be gracious to you, may the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace (a blessing from Numbers 6:22-26). Congratulations, I love you both!!

This was such a sweet post! We got married young by many standards, too (22) but still going strong almost 3 years later. God's grace IS sufficient and marriage is such a blessing; you're absolutely right!
*I have to admit, though, that I get slightly annoyed when people find out that I'm married and pass a "But you're too young" judgment on me, but say nothing to the people who live together for 5 years, finally get married, and then get divorced 4 months later (true story).
Thanks Erin, isn't that annoying!?!?? We get that too.
SO thankful for God's grace! We wouldn't get anywhere with out it!!
